(A TVF Monthly Special Topic Class)
Performing artists can constantly feel pressure - whether on themselves or from an outside source - to constantly be better than they are. This can lead to habitual self-criticism, and never feeling like your voice (or your self!) is enough. This class explores how we can meet these conditions and create space for improvement or skill-building without so much painful criticism, and instead foster radical acceptance alongside vocal freedom.
Using principles of the Alexander work, we will be playing with tools that help us embody freedom and create a map for a friendlier, more supportive inner landscape.
1. Meeting and identifying judgmental inner voices
2. Exploring and re-defining compassion
3. How the spirit of play can lead to both peace and excellence
