This special World Voice Day online event will feature special guest presenter Cate Frazier-Neely, a nationally known vocal teacher who has worked with professional and amateur singers as well as voice teachers of all ages and stages for almost 40 years. Find out how peri-menopause and menopause might affect your singing voice, what to observe and who to consult for guidance when you’d like help.
There will be plenty of time for sharing and questions, and Cate will provide some interesting insights about spiritual reasons for the physical changes. This will inspire and encourage you in your own creative journey.
The session will be held via Zoom, a free video conferencing software (like Skype for groups). Once you register, you will be provided with a link so that you can attend the session.
Can’t attend live? A replay will be available to all registrants!
Event Description from Cate Frazier-Neely:
“Cycles and phases are part of what defines womanhood. More than any other earthly creature, our bodies run according to cycles and phases – whether it is the monthly cycle of menstruation, or the life cycle of ‘mother-maiden-crone’.
Peri-menopause and menopause represents our birth into the ‘wise woman’ phase of our lives. The medical community finally understands that this period can last ten years or more, and from what I have observed from my 82 year old mother, the changes keep coming. For most of us, hormonal shifts begin in our early 40s or even mid to late 30s, whether we notice them yet or not. And with this comes the energetic, psychological, and spiritual shifts that usher us into our wise woman years. It’s a long birth!
In this interactive seminar, we will become aware of what science has identified as menopause’s effects on the voice and singing. I will then provide tools and guidance for what to look for and how to embrace symptoms as a guide for healing and creativity, not a frustrating list of items “to do battle with.”
